Retina is the innermost layer of the posterior part of eye. Comprehensive examination of the eye is essential at every visit to an ophthalmologist.
Patients with diabetes, hypertension, neurological disorders develop specific changes on the retina that should be diagnosed for healthier life and good vision. Routine screening of patients is advised for complete check-up as it helps to pick any hemorrhage or other changes that are developing in the retina.
DIRECT / INDIRECT OPHTHALMOSCOPY
This allows detailed examination of the retina and helps the surgeon to see the blood vessels, optic nerve and other structures inside the eye. Changes on the retinal surface can be easily picked up during ophthalmoscopy examination.
ULTRA-SONOGRAPHY
Ultrasonography helps to see the structures inside the eye when the media is hazy due to any reason. It helps to evaluate all the structures and aids in knowing the cause of decrease in vision.
OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY (OCT)
OCT analysis is performed to evaluate microscopic changes in retina. It can help assess retinal thinning, retinal edema, presence of any traction or macular holes.
