The central cavity inside the eye is known as vitreous. Patients with long standing infection or inflammation or who have been diagnosed with uveitis disorder may need injections inside the eye in vitreous cavity. These intra-vitreal injections help to deliver the medicine in the eye.

The surgeon will give local anesthesia or will put drops that have anesthetic action on the eye to avoid any pain during the procedure. Injection will then be given inside the eye. The process takes around 10 minutes, and the entire procedure is performed inside the operation theatre with sterile protocols.
